INSTRUCTIONS
Note: If your patterned paper is
one-sided, use spray adhesive and
join the wrong sides together on
two sheets of paper.
Die-cut two trees from green
paper and one snowflake from
white paper.
Using the punch, make a hole in
the center of the snowflake.
With scissors, cut a 11
/
2
-inch
slit down the center of one tree,
starting at the tip of the tree. Make
a 1 /-inch slit on the center of the
other tree, starting at the trunk.
Slip the two trees together to form
a dimensional tree.
Insert the tree trunk through the
hole in the snowflake, and glue
the trunk sections to the bottom
of the snowflake.
Thread a needle with
monofilament line. Push the
needle through the tip of one tree;
add the bead, and then sew the
monofilament to the center of the
ribbon and secure. Tie the ribbon
in a knot to form a hanging loop.
3. Snowflake Tree
Designed by Jennifer Keltner
MATERIALS
• Two 4-inch and four 2%-inch
die-cut snowflake shapes
• Embroidery needle
• Long-eye beading needle
• White embroidery floss
• Ten 10-mm-round white pearls
• Medium-width ribbon

the embroidery needle to push a
small hole through the center of
each snowflake.
Thread the beading needle with
an 18-inch length of embroidery
floss. Slip a pearl onto the floss.
Carefully remove the needle, and
then rethread it with both ends
of the floss. The ends of the floss
should be even.
Thread the needle through the
bottom of a large snowflake; add
two pearls. Thread the needle
through the remaining snowflakes,
from largest to smallest, adding
two pearls between each shape.

• Long-eye beading needle
• White embroidery floss
• Eleven 10-mm-round pearls

5. Paper
Poinsettia
Designed by Laura Collins
MATERIALS
• Two sheets of red card stock
• Straightedge and crafts knife
• Double-stick tape
• Glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
• Rhinestone brad
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut two 6-inch squares from the
red paper.
Referring to the diagram,
page
15,
use a light pencil to divide
one square into quadrants (this is
the A side). Turn the square over;
this time divide it diagonally into
quadrants (this is the B side). Draw
a 1/-inch-wide border around the
inside of the square, creating a
smaller 3-inch square in the center.
Cut out the 3-inch center, making
a frame. Erase one of the lines on
the A side of the frame. Repeat for
the other 6-inch square. Using the
straight edge and a crafts knife,
lightly score along the penciled
lines. Fold the lines along the
scored edges. Note: Each frame
will be folded to create one half
(four petals) of the poinsettia.
Cut three /-inch pieces of
tape. Place the frame on a flat
surface with the A side down and
the unscored side closest to you.
Place the tape next to the folds as
shown on the diagram (you can
place the tape on either side of the
scored lines). Fold the paper along
one scored line with the tape in
between; repeat for the other two
scored lines. As you work, let the
petals fold over to the A side. Turn
the shape to the A side. Using hot
|
glue, secure the three inner points
of the petals to the center of the
unscored edge. One half of the
(
poinsettia is completed.
Repeat the instructions for the
j
other half. Glue the halves
together, and then use a rhine-
stone brad for the center.
